The Stress During The Past Year - 1024 Words

The most impactful stress during the past year was the death of my baby son combined with school work and a change of jobs—and they relate with each other. The score on my Social Readjustment Rating Scale is 220. The stress that built and still continues is an ongoing problem. The course work has been overwhelming, and because I had to work fewer hours to get it all done, financial stress also appeared. Overall, the stress has affected by diet and eating habits to the point where I do not eat enough. The term â€Å"biopsychosocial† relates very closely to my situation: â€Å"Psychologists define biopsychosocial model in the context of psychological disorders applies to health psychology as well, because health psychology integrates biological, psychological, and social factors in health.† Stress is the response to environmental factors, the circumstances and events that threaten individuals and tax their coping abilities. A stressor is a chemical or biological agent, environmental condition, external stimulus or an event that causes stress to an organism. The alarm stage is a temporary state of shock during which resistance to illness and stress falls below normal limits. In trying to cope with the initial effects of stress, the body releases hormones that, in a short time, adversely affecst the functioning of the immune system, the body’s network of natural defenses.
